Two Solitudes

Two Solitudes

Sitting on the fence

Between east and west

To love them both

Yet feel not at home

In Delhi or Rome

Neither one to belong

Or call it home

East is in me

In west I chose to be

Rather mistakenly

Shrine

Went to pay homage at a shrine

To merge with the divine

Spelt out some wishes of mine

Hoping for ear of the divine

When the mass ended

The communion, I desired

Are  you a christain?

the priest asked

No father,I replied

God bless you ,my child

But gave me no bread

I felt down hearted

The priest narrow minded

Christ had welcomed one and all

Rejected none from his door

In HIS eyes

All were alike

The sinner and the devout

Were welcomed in HIS shroud

The lord  accepts  one and all

Who ever comes to call

We  are all equal in his eye

The humble and the high

In his house equally all stand.

Shoulder to shoulder man

A christain or a jew,

A muslim or a hindu

black or white

all shine bright.

Under HIS LIGHT.

MARTYRE WAS ONCE BORN

ON INDIA’S WESTERN SHORE

HIS NAME WAS M.K. GANDHI

NOTED LAWYER HE BECAME DUELY

DEVOTED HIS LIFE TO FIGHT FOR LIBERTY

AHIMSA WAS THE METHOD PROPOSED

SATYAGRAHA WAS THE VENUE USED

SOUTH AFRICA’S UNJUST LAWS TO REFORM

KARAMA YOGI THUS HE BECAME

ALL INDIA KNEW HIM AS A SAINT

REMINDED US TO DISCARD THE FOREIGN YOKE

AND LIVE AS FREE MEN IN INDIA’S ABODE

MANKIND MARCHED TO HIS FREEDOM SONG

CHEERFULLY THEY WENT ALONG

HOME TO BRITAIN THE IMPERIALIST WENT

ALL INDIA CELEBRATED THE FREEDOM EVENT

NONE EQUALED HIM IN TRUTH AND JUSTICE

DHARMA-YOGI WAS THIS MYSTIC

GREATNESS WAS THUS THURST UPON HIM

APOSTLE OF NON-VIOLENCE HE BECAME

NONE PROVED GREATER THAN THIS SAINT
